Dr. Marianna Purgato, Clinical Psychologist, PhD, is Assistant Professor in Applied Medical Technology and Methodology at the University of Verona, Italy. Dr. Purgato is an Associate Editor of CAMH and contributes to the editorial management of the systematic reviews and meta-analyses submitted to CAMH.
She is also co-founder of Cochrane Global Mental Health, a Cochrane network that support the production, dissemination and implementation of systematic reviews relevant to mental health in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Purgato’s main research interests cover the evaluation of the effectiveness of psychological interventions for vulnerable population groups, including children exposed to trauma and adversity. She has authored multiple publications on these topics.

Psychosocial interventions for disruptive behaviour problems are feasible in low and middle-income countries
In early 2018, the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry published data from a systematic review and meta-analysis of psychosocial interventions for disruptive behaviour problems in children in low and middle-income countries. The study, conducted by Professor Matthew Burkey and colleagues, found that child-focused and behavioural parenting interventions may be effective for affected children in these socioeconomic groups.
