About the speakers

Joanne Tarver
Dr. Joanne Tarver

Joanne is a Research Fellow at Aston University. Joanne completed her PhD at the University of Nottingham where she led a small-scale randomised controlled trial of a self-help intervention for parents of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Following this, Joanne worked as a post-doctoral researcher on the development of a clinical assessment tool for concerning behaviour in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and a feasibility and pilot trial of a novel parent intervention for emotional and behavioural problems in children with ASD. Joanne has also worked as a frontline advisor for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Design Service. Currently, Joanne is working on research projects aimed at improving the identification and treatment of mental health problems in individuals with ASD and intellectual disability, and is exploring research interests in the familial correlates of anxiety in individuals with ASD.

Noeleen Morritt
Clinical Specialist, CAMHS LD service, South London and the Maudsley NHS trust. Noeleen Morritt is a Learning Disability Nurse with 35 years of clinical experience working with both adult and children who have a learning disability. She has worked in a variety of settings including in-patient and in the community. She has contributed to the development of the first joint learning disability team and is presently developing a learning disability service within Croydon CAMHS. Noeleen was one of the founding members of the Learning Disability Journal which remains an established publication.
